Bell Super Hybinos

We saw the Bell albinos for the first time in 2000, and were blown away by their beauty. At that time it was unknown whether the Bells were genetically different from the other two known strains, and we bred one to a Rainwater albino to see if these two strains were the same, although it was quite apparant by looking at them that they were not! Of course we hatched normal appearing babies from that breeding, and Mark Bell hatched normal babies from his Bell x Tremper crosses as well. Thus, a third strain of albino leopard gecko was proven to be unique!

We have been breeding the Bells into hypo tangerine and carrot tail lines over the past few years, and in 2004 we hatched out a few amazing looking hybinos! In 2005 we will be offering a limited number of these beautiful geckos.

Super Hypo Tangerine/Carrot Tails

We have had the pleasure of working with tangerine leopard geckos since the late 1990's. Over the years we have incorporated many different bloodlines into our breeding stock. When we received our first Ray Hine line Hypo Carrot Tails in 2001 we crossed these animals into the tangerine and hypo tangerine geckos already in our collection, combining the spotless heads and bodies of the super hypos with the intense orange coloration of our tangerines.

We have not been focused on the amount of carrot on the tail in this project, but rather the overall orange body coloration. This year we are beginning to see an increase in the amount of carrotting in our offspring, which is great. Like many of our fellow breeders, our ultimate goal is to produce a solid red leopard gecko with no spotting. We think we have an excellent start with our 2005 group!

Red Stripes

This is a fairly new project here at H.I.S.S. We purchased some red stripes in 2004 to cross into our Bell Albinos. We will also produce some nice outcrossed red stripes as well. We have a pair of HQR line outcrossed animals from JMG that are just gorgeous. We also have two beautiful unrelated females from R2 Reptiles, one of which is a unique reverse stripe tangerine, along with a few other nice females

Hypermelanistic

I have always thought that the ultimate leopard gecko would be a solid black animal! In the mid-late 1990's I had a very nice and diverse group of what, back then, were just plain old "normal" leopard geckos. As time went on I added more of the designer color phases into my breeding program, and the normals were sold to make room for the new and more coveted morphs. I have since regreted not keeping some of those "wild type" geckos, as they are a rarity these days.

I was extremely lucky last year to have collected some awesome dark animals from fellow gecko breeders, and they are highly treasured by me. My so called "Dark Project" will be a long term selective breeding program, and my goal with this project is to produce dark animals that consitently produce dark offspring. I see no reason why this is not possible, as there are many such selectively bred color phases on the market today (high yellows, snows, hypo tangerines etc.). Keep an eye on this page for pictures of some of the nicest offspring from this neat group of geckos.
